San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee will miss the rest of the 2024 season after dislocating his left shoulder Sunday while trying to make a catch.
Lee will have Surpassingsurgery within the new few weeks, the team said Friday.
Lee, 25, injured his shoulder on the center field fence while trying to catch a first-inning drive by the Cincinnati Reds' Jeimer Candelario. He was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday.
Lee, a star in his native South Korea who signed a six-year, $113 million deal in the offseason, was batting .262 with two homers and eight RBI in 37 games. He was excelling on defense in center field.
San Francisco also activated designated hitter Jorge Soler from the injured list among other moves.

Soler, who hit the IL on May 8 because of a right shoulder sprain, was hit in the head by his own foul ball in the batting cage Tuesday. He's penciled in as the leadoff hitter for Friday night's home game against the Colorado Rockies and right-hander Ryan Feltner.
The Giants recalled right-handed pitcher Mason Black from their Class AAA affiliate in Sacramento to start Friday's game, placed pitcher Keaton Winn (forearm strain) on the IL and optioned infielder Casey Schmitt to Sacramento.
Rookie left-hander Kyle Harrison had his start pushed back to Saturday.
Soler, 32, is hitting only .202 through 34 games with five home runs and eight RBI after hitting .250 and powering up for 36 home runs in 137 games last season for the Miami Marlins.
Black, a 24-year-old rookie, was a third-round draft pick by the Giants in 2021 and has started twice this season (0-1, 6.23 ERA with six strikeouts).
Winn, 26, is 3-6 with a 6.17 ERA in nine starts this season.
Schmitt, 25, is batting .136 in 22 at-bats for San Francisco this season.
